  • can`t get rid of shadow

hi, i face the problem that i can`t get rid of a shadow of an object i use to simulate correct gi and which is invisible to the camera. it is an ectruded polyline.
in object properties / rendering cvontrol i unchecked everything out of renderable.
in the vray sun i excluded the object from both.
i don`t know why the shadow is still there...

Does the object have some thickness?

    Best regards,

i made a polyline with the "line" tool and extruded it.

why would you want to do such thing, i mean the 'object to simulate correct' GI ?
i thought GI would always be calculated in a 'correct' way.

it´s maybe not it´s shadow, but the dark gi of itself that´s left on the ground...

uncheck -castshadow- in your light and you will see..

@thomas - unchecked cast shadows in the lights yet
@deneb26 - in reality there will be higher trees and then hills in this region of the image. i positioned the object there to simulate this geometrie.

...so that´s what i said...it´s not the shadow!

now uncheck -visible to gi- (vray properties) from the object you think that it´s casting the shadow...

Cast shadows only turns on/off shadows from direct light sources. You want this object to affect GI, it is doing that by blocking indirect light giving you the darker area. What exactly is the problem? Either you want it to affect GI, in which case the result you have is correct, or you don't, in which case delete it.

Not sure where you're going with this.

...i also think it woul´d be best to delete the part of the object that is crossing the street (for that the black area on the street is really the selfgi that is seen...what i suspect...)
...cause the blocking gi from the back is maybe not that much necessary...
